ABOUT SPARROW GROUP

Our Story

VISION

MISSION

Sparrow Group grew out of a lifetime of investing in people.

Sarah and Andreas Steffensen met in New York City in 1999 while serving in ministry and married in 2000. Since then, they have spent more than three decades collectively working with churches, nonprofits, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and ministry networks across the United States and around the world.

Andreas, originally from Denmark, has worked internationally in leadership development, vocational training, entrepreneurship, and community development. Sarah has dedicated her life to nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and building partnerships that bring people together around meaningful solutions.

They are the parents of Helena and Samuel, grandparents to one grandson, and Helena is married to Tyler.

Sparrow Group was originally founded by Sarah in 2020 as a way to support ministry leaders and nonprofit organizations seeking guidance in launching and strengthening their work. Over time, that vision expanded into a broader commitment to helping people, families, and communities flourish through development, stewardship, and enterprise.

Today, Sparrow Group operates through two complementary initiatives: Sparrow Development and Sparrow Ventures.

Everything we do is guided by a simple belief:

People matter. Every person possesses value, potential, and the capacity for growth.

To cultivate flourishing people, families, and communities.

To help people become all they were created to be through formation, stewardship, development, and enterprise.

The Sparrow Philosophy

We believe every person possesses inherent worth and potential.

We believe lasting transformation cannot be imposed. It must be embraced.

We believe flourishing communities are built by flourishing people and flourishing families.

For this reason, we focus on long-term investment in people, relationships, and opportunities that create lasting impact.

Our work is guided by four convictions:

  • Formation creates flourishing people.

  • Flourishing people strengthen families.

  • Strong families contribute to flourishing communities.

  • Sustainable impact requires sustainable resources.
